## What is GTO?
If you only bet strong hands, opponents fold whenever you bet. If you only bluff, they call you down. Game Theory Optimal (GTO) poker solves this by mixing value bets and bluffs at exact ratios. Check sometimes with strong hands. Bet sometimes with weak ones. Your opponent can't distinguish between them, so they can't exploit either tendency.

## Terminology

### Exploitability
How much EV a perfect counter-strategy gains against you.
1. Freeze Player A's strategy
2. Find Player B's best response against A's fixed strategy
3. Measure B's EV gain from targeting A's weaknesses
4. Repeat with roles reversed
5. Exploitability = average of both gains

### Expected Value (EV)
The average outcome of a decision when accounting for all possibilities and their probabilities.
EV accounts for all possible outcomes weighted by their probability of occurring. A positive EV indicates an action that will be profitable over the long run. At game theory optimal (GTO) equilibrium, the out-of-position player (player acting first) typically operates at a lower EV because they must act first without information about their opponent's action. Conversely, the in-position player (player acting last) enjoys an inherent advantage by acting last, allowing them to make more informed decisions.
